CHARITY PARTNERS

The Sickle Cell Society is our current ‘Charity of the Year' for 2017.

We have an active fundraising schedule of events to help raise money for The Sickle Cell Society, and we are delighted to be supporting this incredibly worthy charity. These events include cake sales, raffles, auctions, dressing up for work days and much more!  We would like to thank everyone who has supported us in our fundraising endeavours so far.

The Sickle Cell Society is a London based charity set up in 1979. It was formed by a group of patients, parents and health professionals who were all concerned about the lack of understanding and the inadequacy of treatment of individuals living with sickle cell disorders.

SCD is the most common genetic blood condition in England, that is linked to every 1 in 2000 births. It can cause severe pain in any part of the body known as a sickle cell crisis which could last for several days, weeks or months and result in frequent emergency hospitalisation, intravenous pain killers and blood transfusion for some. Sickle cell disorders can cause delayed growth, chronic fatigue, PHTN, acute chest syndrome, strokes, brain damage, blindness, permanent damage to internal organs and even early mortality.

The Sickle Cell Society is the only national charity in the UK that supports and represents people affected by SCD to improve their overall quality of life. They raise awareness of Sickle Cell, push for improvements to treatment and provide advice, information and support to the Sickle Cell community. Their mission is to enable and assist individuals living with SCD to realise their full social and economic potential with the limited resources they have.

Please take a look at their website for further details http://sicklecellsociety.org/.

Our aim is to raise as much money as possible for our charity, whilst also raising awareness at the same time of all the amazing work they do.
